Royal Lakes Sewer Improvement Project

JEA is about to begin Phase 2 of the Royal Lakes Sewer improvement project. The project was undertaken in order to decommission an old wastewater treatment facility on Western Way behind the Royal Lakes subdivision. The plant was expensive to maintain and technologically obsolete. The treated water outfall from the plant entered the St. Johns River near Goodby’s Creek. As part of the project, new gravity lines will be installed in Royal Lakes and the area will be connected to new lines installed along Southside Boulevard; eventually connecting to piping following JTB and terminating at the Arlington East Regional Waste Water Reclamation Facility.

Within Royal Lakes, installation of the new line will involve an open cut in the southerly travel lane of Royal Lakes Drive. JEA is committed to restoration of grass, curb, gutter, driveways and sidewalks upon completion of the project, as well as the repaving of both travel lanes of Royal Lakes Drive in the sections impacted by the project.

More details about the project can be found at construction.jea.com. Question can be directed to Project Outreach at (904) 665-7500 or projectoutreach@jea.com.
