Old San Jose Stacking Lane helps to relieve morning back-ups

The new stacking lane on the northbound side of Old San Jose at the entrance to Hendricks Elementary opened in December and has proven to help relieve morning traffic back-ups on the roadway. The project is designed to allow parents waiting to enter the drop off lane at the school to get out of the travel lane and to permit the regular flow of through traffic.

There are minor finishing details that remain to be completed, but the roadway, lighting, sidewalk and drainage elements are all in place. I have received a number of positive comments on the improvements to traffic flow and this project is one that also helps to prevent cut-through traffic on neighborhood streets by removing obstructions on the roadway designed to serve as a collector.
